Sam Perlman

  Samual Perlman, 86, formerly of Delphi, died Jan. 5, 1988, in Hooverwood Home, Indianapolis, where he had resided the past three months.
  Born Jan. 14, 1901, in Lafayette, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Perlman.  He graduated from Delphi High School.  Following his graduation, he joined his father in operating a scrap business in Delphi, and in 1923, he and his brother, Harry, founded Perlman Brothers in Lafayette.  He also was president of the Crawfordsville Scrap and Salvage, Inc., which he and a nephew, Jack Perlman, founded in 1953.  He had lived in Indianapolis and Sarasota, Fla., after leaving the Lafayette area 10 years ago.
  He was married in 1937 to Thelma Peterson, who died in 1969.  In 1970, he married Carolyn Efromson, who survives.
  He was a former member of Temple Israel, and Lafayette Country Club.  He was a life member of Elks Lodge 143 and had been active in Boy Scout Work.
