Herman Ewald - Class Of 1911

LaVerne Goff of Delphi has received word of the death of Herman Ewald, about 55, of Oroville, California. According to information received here Mr. Ewald, who formerly was an employee of the Goff store in Delphi, died July 16 of a Heart attack following an operation for hernia. Burial was in Oroville. His brother, Bert, is the only immediate survivor. Mr. Ewald had spent the past several years in the gold fields of California where he was a prospector. Ewald was one of the pioneer radio enthusiasts of Delphi in the early twenties. When station KDKA of Pittsburg, Pa., was one of the few radio broadcasting stations on the air, many a Delphian went down to Ewald’s house on Washington street to hear (and sometimes not hear) the weak signals over Ewald’s earphones.
