Bessie Hall (Shaffer) - Class Of 1911

Mrs. Bessie May Shaffer, 62, a former resident of Pittsburg, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday at the home of her son, Dr. Robert Shaffer, at Bloomington. She had been ill six months. The deceased was born on December 15, 1892, at Churubusco to Steven and Lucinda Hall. She moved to Carroll county at an early age and was a member of the Delphi Baptist church and the Eastern Star. She served as a housemother at Phi Delta Theta fraternity home at Butler University for a number of years. Survivors include two sons, Robert Shaffer, Bloomington, and Richard Shaffer, former principal at Delphi high school, now in Boone, North Carolina; two sisters, Mrs. Frank Anthony, South Bend, and Mrs. Cina King, Memphis Tennessee; and four grandchildren. The body will arrive at the Jackson funeral home Saturday evening and friends may call after 4 p.m. Sunday. Funeral services will be conducted from the Jackson chapel by F.F. Bradley, of Lafayette, at 2 p.m. Monday, internment will be made in the Masonic cemetery.
