John Anderson - Class Of 1912

Birth: 1895 Death: 1920 John W. Anderson, aged 25 years, son of Mr. and Mrs. M. E. Anderson, of Kokomo, died at the Good Samaritan hospital in that city Thanksgiving day of tuberculosis, caused by being gassed while in the army overseas. A short funeral service was held at the residence Sunday morning at 11 o'clock, after which the body was brought overland to Pyrmont, where the funeral services were held in the afternoon at 2 o'clock. Anderson enlisted in the army on March 29, 1918, in Carroll county and from here was sent to Camp Taylor. He went to France two months later as a member of the 125th infantry Company G. On October 1, 1918, he was severely gassed, which prevented him from taking part in any further service. He returned to the United States on June 3, 1919. After his release from service he was employed in the railway mail service out of Fort Wayne until he became ill on November 3 when he returned to the home of his parents at Kokomo, where he is a member of the Post of American Legion. He is survived by the parents.
