Esther Lesh (Hedderich) - Class Of 1912

Mrs. Esther M. Hedderich, 59, one of the county’s most widely known farm women and leaders, died at the family home near Camden Sunday following; a lingering illness. Born August 24, 1894, in Burrows, she was the daughter of Alan L. and Susan (Wasson) Lesh. Her marriage was to Frank Hedderich. A woman of many talents, Mrs. Hedderich gave unstintingly of her time for the promotion of 4-H work in its pioneer days. She was also active in the Home Demonstration club work of the county and in the OES at Camden. In addition, she was a member of the Flora Presbyterian church and of the Camden War Mothers club Mrs. Hedderich also served as a consultant for the WLS Home Economics staff. She is survived by the husband: two daughters, Mrs. R. J. Cooley of Chatsworth, California, and Mrs. Thomas M. Boardman of Washington, D. C., who was with her mother during her long illness; two sons, Fred L. and Paul E., both of Camden; a sister, Mrs. Walter P. Martin, route 3, Delphi, and a brother, Dwight K. Lesh of Burrows. A sister, Mrs. Mary Baldwin of Madison, Wisconsin preceded her in death. Funeral rites were held Tuesday afternoon from the Gentry funeral home in Camden with Rev. William, Myer in charge. Burial was in the Camden cemetery. Pallbearers were Paul Oyler, Carey Oyler, Bobby Myers. Donald Shanks. Fred Wagoner and John Miller. Delphi Citizen November 19, 1953
