George Frank Shallenberger, 62, of Lafayette, died Saturday afternoon in the VA hospital, Indianapolis, where he had been a patient since Thursday. He had previously been confined to St. Elizabeth hospital for 7 months. Born in Delphi, he attended schools here and in 1915 moved to Lafayette. He married Susanna Braun in 1930 and she died in December of last year. Mr. Shallenberger was a veteran of World War I, a member of St. Boniface Catholic church, Eagles Lodge, Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He is survived by a brother, William of Lafayette; a half- brother, Clarence H. Orr of Delphi and a sister, Iva Ashby of Lafayette. Funeral rites were held Tuesday from St. Boniface church in Lafayette with burial in the church cemetery.
