Ray Smith - Class Of 1912


Ray E. Smith, 70, of Monticello, native of Carroll county and former resident of the Delphi community, died Saturday morning at his home. Mr. Smith operated a bottled gas business in Monticello for a number of years and formerly was a farmer. He was a member of the Lockport church. Born near Lockport Nov. 24, 1891, his parents were Charles and Betty Mullendore Smith. His marriage in 1915 was to Opal Mears. Surviving are the widow; four daughter and three sons, Mrs. Glen May of Brookston; Mrs. Joe Dubes and Mrs. Gordon Martin of Lafayette; Mrs. Gilbert Hughes of Monon ; Donald M. Smith of Monticello; Charles A. Smith of Delphi and Jack of Monticello. Also surviving are four sisters and three brothers: Mrs. T. O. Peterson of route 2, Delphi, Mrs. Flossie Cox of Logansport, Mrs. Edna Taylor of Marion, and Mrs. Steve Kisco of Chicago, Lester Smith of Radnor, Waldo of Peru, and Ford of route 1 Burnettesville. Services were conducted Tuesday afternoon with Rev. Wallace McDonald officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery in Delphi.
