Marie McGreevey (Schmitter) - Class Of 1913

Funeral mass for Marie L. Schmitter, 83, of Rt. 4, Delphi, were at 11 a.m. Monday, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Delphi. Rev. Ambrose Ziegler officiated at the services. Burial was in St. Joseph Cemetery. She died at 10 p.m., Friday, September 28, 1979, while visiting her son in Columbus, Ohio. Born Jan. 9, 1896, in Deer Creek, she was the daughter of John A. and Anna Albert McGreevey. She was married Feb. 24, 1916, in Delphi, to Frank A. Schmitter who died May 19, 1974. Mrs Holmes was a graduate of Delphi High School and from Lafayette Business College. She was a member of St Joseph Catholic Church and the church’s Altar and Rosary Society. She was also a member of an extension homemakers club, the Medical Missions, and the Oxford VFW Auxiliary. Surviving are seven sons, Francis Schmitter of Decatur, Ala., Tobias J. Schmitter of Rt. 3, Frankfort, Paul C Schmitter of Columbus, Ohio, Robert B Schmitter of Monticello, Richard F. and Lawrence J. Schmitter, both of Rt. 4 Delphi, and Robert M. Schmitter of Harahan, La.; three daughters Marie Randal of Highland, Ill., Anna Wetli of Earl Park, and Mary Busald of Rushville; two brothers, C. J. McGreevey of Crawfordsville and John McGreevey of Rt. 2, Delphi; 39 grandchildren, and 21 great-grandchildren. One son, one sister and four grandchildren preceded her in death. Thompson Funeral Home, Delphi, was in charge of arrangements.
