John Coble - Class Of 1914

John K. Coble, 66, of route 3, Delphi, died unexpectedly at 9:00 a.m. Saturday in St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, three hours after being admitted. He had been suffering with a heart ailment. Born April 10, 1897, near Rockfield, the son of Walter and Bessie Stauffer Coble, he was a lifelong resident of the area. He was a retired farmer and insurance agent and a member of the Rockfield Christian Church. In 1918 he married Fay Snyder. Surviving, with the widow, are: two sons, John R., of route 3, Delphi, and Keith, of Kokomo; two daughters, Mrs. Gwen Kahler, of route 3, Delphi, and Mrs. Patricia Pittenger, of Indianapolis; his mother, Mrs. Bessie Coble, of Rockfield; one brother, Carl Coble, of route 3, Delphi; and two sisters, Mrs. Robert Bowman, of Delphi, and Mrs. Jean Edging, of Oxnard, California. Funeral services were held at the Gentry funeral home at Camden Tuesday afternoon with the Reverend Emil Petersen officiating. Burial was made in the Rockfield IOOF cemetery.
