Russel Julius - Class Of 1915

Funeral rites and burial were in Indianapolis Friday afternoon for Russell S. Julius, native of Delphi and a prominent figure in the Indiana Athletic Association. Mr. Julius suffered a fatal heart attack Wednesday night at Indianapolis. At the time of his death, he was athletic director of Shortridge high school and was formerly football coach there. Born here, he graduated from the local high school and entered Indiana University. He was a veteran of World War I. For many years he officiated at basketball and football games over the state and for 28 years served as official timer for the finals of the Indiana high school basketball tourney in Indianapolis. Surviving are the widow, the former Ruth Gushwa; a son, David, and a daughter, Sarah Ellen. C. O. Julius of Delphi is a cousin of the deceased and with Mrs. Julius attended final rites in Indianapolis Friday morning. Delphi Citizen October 14, 1948
