Josephine Clifford (Thieme) - Class Of 1916

Josephine Clifford Thieme, 93, of Lafayette, died at 5:10 p.m. April 30, 1990, in Regency Place, where she had been a resident since January 1988.

  She was born March 18, 1897, in Delphi.  Her family operated the Clifford Grocery Story in Delphi from 1870 to 1950.

  A 1916 graduate of Delphi High School, she was organist at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Delphi for several years before her marriage on Sept. 15, 1927, in Delphi, to Fred Thieme.

  She was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Boniface Altar Society, St. Theresa Study Club, AlphaXi Delta Mother's Club, and St. Elizabeth Hospital Auxiliary.

  Surviving are three sons, John F. Thieme and J. Thomas Thieme, both of Lafayette and James R. Thieme of Sunnyvale, Calif.; two daughters, Barbara Schrader of Lafayette and Josephine Deible of Charleston, S.C.; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.  Five brothers and two sisters preceded her in death.

  Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with Father Matt Hollin, OFM; officiating.  Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery.  Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. today at Soller-Baker Funeral Home, Lafayette, where Rosary will be conducted at 7 p.m.
