Albert Nichter - Class Of 1916

Albert M. "Nick" Nichter, 90, of Lafayette, formerly of Carroll County, died at 2:30 a.m. Nov. 10, 1988, in his home. He was born Aug. 13, 1898, in Tippecanoe County. His marriage was in 1940 to Florence Henderson, who survives. He graduated from Delphi High School in 1916 and from Purdue University in 1920. He taught vocational agriculture in Harrison County for a number of years. From 1933 until 1961, he was an agriculture specialist with the Purdue Cooperative Extension Service on the West Lafayette campus. Following his retirement, he was a farm manager and income tax practitioner for 15 years. He was a member and former president of the Lafayette Chapter of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, a member of the Tippecanoe County Council on Aging, and had served on the board of the Area IV Council on Aging. His wife is the only immediate survivor. Three brothers and a sister preceded him in death. Services were Saturday in Lafayette, with burial in the St. Joseph's Cemetery, Delphi.
