Lee Shaeffer - Class Of 1916

Lee Shaeffer, 70, a retired Delphi mail carrier, passed away at 11:45 Tuesday night at Home Hospital where he had been admitted that morning. He had been in failing health for several months. Born in Carroll County January 15, 1896, he was the son of John A and Maud E. Baum Shaeffer. He was married January 27, 1923, to Pauline Ulm. A lifelong member of this community, he was a member of the Presbyterian Church, a veteran of World War I, and a member of the American Legion and the Forty and Eight. Surviving with the widow are one son, Carl, of Delphi; a foster daughter, Mrs. Henry V. Taylor of Lafayette, and five grandchildren. Friends may call at Cornell Funeral Home after four Thursday afternoon. Services will be held at the funeral home at two Friday afternoon and burial will be in Masonic Cemetery. The American Legion will conduct graveside services.
