Hazel Scott (Swatts) - Class Of 1916

  Hazel A. Swatts, 98, Battle Ground, died March 22, 1993, at 8:45 a.m. in St. Elizabeth Health Care Center, where she had been a resident since May 1987.
  Born Feb. 10, 1896, in Carroll County, she was the daughter of Mordecai and Mary Roach Scott.  She was married in Carroll County on April 6, 1921, to Victor E. Swatts, who died Feb. 7, 1976.
  Mrs. Swatts was an elementary teacher in various Carroll County schools for four years before her marriage.  She was a 1916 graduate of Delphi High School and attended Valparaiso University.
  She was amember of Delphi United Methodist Church, where she belonged to the Friendship Circle.  Her other memberships included Americus Quilting Club and Tipwa Grange.
  Surviving is one daughter, Ruth Dubeck of Battle Ground; and two grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a twin brother and three sisters.
  Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Horn Funeral in Delphi.  Burial will be in Pretty Prairie Cemetery, Battle Ground.
