Florence Pollard - Class Of 1904

Miss Florence Pollard, only daughter of Mrs. Robert C. Pollard, passed away Sunday afternoon at the family residence and her death brought a beautiful life to a close. Florence was born in 1885 in this city and was a graduate of the Delphi high schools. Up to the time she was taken ill she was full of life and spirit, and was a most popular young woman. She was of a happy disposition, and, even under adverse conditions, helped to cheer those about her. The Pollard home was the center of many happy gatherings when Florence and her brothers were children and since her illness the friends of childhood and womanhood have been ever thoughtful in trying to make her days happy ones. Mrs. Pollard has been her daughter’s constant companion for years and the sympathy of her many friends goes out to Mrs. Pollard in this time of sorrow. The funeral services were held in the beautiful little church of St. Mary’s, of which Florence was a member. Rev. Westman officiated and a male quartette composed of E. O. Grimm, H. E. Reed, J. J. O’Connor and, Roy Clauser rendered appropriate music. Mrs. Grace Sines Erickson, of Gary, Misses Mary Donlin and Isabelle Rinehart, of this city, bore the floral tributes. The pall-bearers were George Lyons, of Indianapolis; Joe Dixon, of Chicago; Bracken Pollard, of Toledo, Ohio; Rheno Isherwood, Jr., C. B, Lyon and C. Robert Pollard, of this city. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows’ cemetery.
