Nellie Baughman (Humiston) - Class Of 1905

Mrs. Nell Baughman Humiston, 71, former Delphi resident, died at the St. Elizabeth hospital, Lafayette, Monday. She had been a patient there for the past year. Born on March 28, 1887, at Lima, Ohio, she was the daughter of Samuel and Ellen Eversole Baughman. She was reared in Delphi by an uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. B. C. Kirkwood. Her marriage in 1926 was to Harry D. Humiston. They resided in Illinois and she taught in Chicago schools for several years. After Mr. Humiston’s death in 1955, she returned to Delphi. She was a member Signal Kappa sorority, Phi Beta Kappa honorary, the Presbyterian church, 10th Century Club, Art and Garden club, D. A. R., and the Delphi Woman’s Club. Survivors are a step-daughter Mrs. Elizabeth Ray, Honolulu Hawaii; a brother, Glen Baughman, Hammond; a sister. Mrs. Ethel Marson, Edmonton, Canada; nieces and nephews. Friends may call at the Jackson Funeral Home. Rites will be held there at 2:00 p. m., Thursday (today). Rev. James Rankin will officiate.
