Florence Lyon (Lyman) - Class Of 1906

Friends were shocked this morning to hear of the sudden death of Mrs. Florence Lyon Lyman, at her home in Ypsilanti, Michigan. A heart attack was said to be the cause of her death at 6:00 o’clock am. Her mother, Mrs. Frank Lyon, of Delphi, who has been living with her daughter, was with her. Mrs. Lyman, wife of the late Dr. E. A. Lyman, was bom and reared in Carroll county. She was 54 years of age. Besides her mother, two sisters and a brother survive. They are: Nina Lyon Dean, a member of the nursing staff of the Cass county hospital, Logansport; Lucille Lyon, teacher in the Hammond schools, and Joe Lyon of Hammond. A brilliant and well-educated woman, Mrs. Lyman, at the time of her death was in the personnel department of the Ford Bomber plant at Willow Run, Mich. She had taught Spanish at Indiana University, and in the schools of Ft. Wayne, and also in a Teachers College, Ypsilanti, where her husband had been head of the department of mathematics. Mrs. Lyman had studied in Spain and had made several trips abroad studying in various universities. She was a member of Delta Gamma at Indiana university from which she graduated. She was also a graduate of the Delphi high school. Funeral services will be held at 2:30, Saturday, at Ypsilanti. Burial will be made there
