Forrest Orr - Class Of 1906

Forrest H. Orr, 72, of West Main street, Delphi, druggist here for more than 50 years, died at 6:15 a.m. last Thursday at the Kennedy Nursing Home at Flora following a long illness. He entered a Lafayette hospital November 4th and was removed to the nursing home about two weeks ago. He had been in virtual retirement since 1958, when he left the pharmacy to the management of his son, Forrest H, Orr, Jr. Born August 26th, 1887, in Nebraska, he was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Orr. His marriage in 1909 was to Dorothy Smith who survives. He was graduated from Delphi high school in 1906 and the Purdue University School of Pharmacy in 1909. The next year he opened the pharmacy at 112 Main street. He was a member of the Methodist church, the Masonic lodge, Delphi chapter of the Commandery, Scottish Rite and Shrine at Indianapolis I.O.O.F. Lodge 28 of Delphi and Rotary. He was the Sunday school superintendent at the Methodist church for many years. Surviving besides the widow are the mother, Mrs. Maude Orr, of Monon; two sons, Forrest, Jr., now operating the drug store that bears his name and Dr. Jack E., of Seattle, Washington, head of the Department of Pharmacy at the University of Washington; one brother, Luther, of Lafayette; two sisters, Mrs. Harriet Benson and Mrs. Waldmore Heimlick, both of Monon; three grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Jackson funeral home, with the Reverend O. P. Manker officiating. Burial was made in the Masonic cemetery.
