A. A. (Gus) Briney, 90, Monticello, died at 5 a.m. Monday, June 25, 1979, at his home after an illness of five months. Born in Carroll County Sept. 23, 1888, his parents were Marion G. and Sarah Scott Briney. On April 22, 1913, he married Isabell Roach who survives. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church at Monticello, and the Holy Name Society of the church. He went to Monticello from Delphi in 1925. Surviving with the wife are four daughters, Kathryn Douglass Gates, Frankfort, Margaret Ellis, Carmel, Mary Jane Bergsma and Eileen Briney of Lafayette; 2 sons, Jack of Monticello and Bob of Decatur, Ill., 19 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren Funeral services were at 9:30 a.m. today at the church with Father Robert Fosselman officiating. Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
