Lynn Brookbank - Class Of 1908

Lynn Brookbank, 58, beloved principal of the Pittsburg school and a teacher in the Tippecanoe township schools for 37 years, died at the family home early Tuesday morning of a heart attack.  Mr. Brookbank had not been in ill health and his death came as a great shock to his multitude of friends and former students.

     The son of John and Agnes Arnott Brookbank, he was born in Carroll county January 21, 1891, and was married June 10, 1925 to Margaret Lybrook.  He attended Indiana University, the University of Michigan and Rochester College.  With the exception of one year, when he taught at Carson school in Jefferson township.  Mr. Brookbank spent his entire teaching career in the Tippecanoe township schools.

     A veteran of World War I, he served overseas and was a member of Harry Bohannon Post, No. 75, American Legion.

     Surviving with the widow are three children John David, Robert Lynn and Virginia, all at home; a sister, Mrs. John Meyer of Wheaton, Illinois.

     Funeral rites will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 p.m. from the Grimm funeral home with the Rev. Merlin Schwein officiating.  Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery.  Friends may call at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be John Roth, Harold Patton, Charles Smith, Cliff Bitler, Herman Theophile and Harry Hatton.
