William Conway - Class Of 1908

W. R. Conway, locomotive fireman on the Monon railroad, died Wednesday at his home in Lafayette. Death resulted from peritonitis. He was taken ill about 11 o'clock Saturday night while on his engine at Rensselaer, and was brought to his home later, and was taken to his home in Lafayette. He was a son of Dr. P. W. Conway, of this city, and was born at Ockley, Ind., April 24, 1889. He was married July 22, 1912 to Miss Ruth Jensen, of Clay city. Before taking up firing on the road he was connected with the signal department. He began his career as a locomotive fireman on the Monon, January 11, 19l2. He is survived by his widow and two children, one son, four years old, and a baby daughter, two months old. He is also survived by his father, Dr. P. W. Conway, of Delphi, and two sisters, Mrs. F. S. Timmons and Miss Eva Conway, of Delphi. The funeral was held Friday morning at 9 o'clock at St. Lawrence church Lafayette, after which the body was brought to Delphi for burial. Father Alfred Hermann, O. F. M., officiated at the church, and the B. of L. F. E. had charge of the funeral and conducted the service at the cemetery.
