Edna Kirkpatrick - Class Of 1908

      Miss Edna Kirkpatrick, 73, beloved retired Delphi teacher, died at 11:45 Wednesday night in St. Elizabeth hospital where she had been taken Tuesday night after suffering a stroke.  Miss Kirkpatrick had been in ill health for a number of years.

     Born January 20, 1890, in Cutler, her parents were Alonza and Cora Conarroe Kirkpatrick.  She was graduated from Delphi High School and attended Terre Haute Normal Madam Blakers in Indiana and received her degree from Butler University where she was a member of Phi Kappa Psi, education honorary.  Miss Kirkpatrick was a charter member of Delphi Tri Kappa, later joining the associate chapter of that sorority.  She was a member of Charles Carroll Chapter, DAR, the Presbyterian church and was a charter member and Past President of the Delphi Legion Auxiliary.  She had taught in the Delphi and Burlington schools for 45 years.

     Surviving are a brother, Dr. John T. Kirkpatrick of Delphi, now a patient in the VA Hospital, Indianapolis; three sisters, Mrs. P.M. Coleman of Wake Village, Texas; Mrs. Dale Calvert of Monticello, rural route, Mrs. Huber Sumrow of Vancouver, Washington.  Also surviving are three nieces.

     Funeral rites were conducted at the Jackson funeral home at 2 p.m. Saturday with Rev. James Wm. Rankin officiating.  Burial was in Masonic cemetery.
