Charles E. Niewerth, 90, died Monday, July 27, 1981, in St. Elizabeth Hospital.
  Born at Delphi, he was graduated from Delphi High School in 1908.  In 1910 he moved to Lafayette, where he resided until moving to Augsburg Village, Mulberry, last November.  He was employed as a postal clerk at the Lafayette Post Office for 43 years, retiring in 1960.
  He was a 63-year member of Tippecanoe Masonic Lodge 492, and also a member of Scottish Rite Valley of Indianapolis, American Postal Workers Union, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and Indiana and Tippecanoe County Historical Association.
  Surviving are a niece and one nephew, both of Lafayette.
  Graveside rites will be a 10 a.m. Thursday in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi, with the Rev. Benjamin E. Antle officiating.
  Friends may call today, Wednesday, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home at Lafayette.
