Pearl Stansel - Class Of 1892

Miss Pearl Stansell, 82, a native of Delphi and for many years a nurse at the Peoria State hospital, died July 3 In the Cooper convalescent home in Peoria after a lengthy illness. Miss Stansell left here many years ago for Peoria and then went to Imola, California, where she was associated with hospital work as a nurse. Upon her retirement in 1940, she returned to Peoria to live with friends. Born in Delphi, June 8, 1872, she was the daughter of Henry and Mary (Smoyer) Stansell. The family owned what is now the Treichel farm, south of Delphi, and later resided in what is now the K R. Smock home in South Delphi. She was past matron and a member of Rose chapter OES of Delphi and held a 50-year membership in the lodge. Surviving are two sisters. Mrs. R. F. Jarvis and Mrs. C. V. Hatfield. The body was cremated in Chicago and brought here on July 8 for burial in the Masonic cemetery. Her sister. Mrs. Cora Jervis of Gadsden, Alabama, accompanied the ashes here and was a house guest of Mrs. Ada Hinkle and daughter Mary.
