Florence Crawford - Class Of 1897

Miss Florence M. Crawford, 56, died at her home in South Delphi Monday at 4 p.m. following an illness of several months. She was born in Delphi, August 17, 1877, the daughter of Nathaniel and Elisabeth Havling Crawford. She was the last of a family of 7 children. From 1857 to 1905 she was deputy county recorder when O. S. Baird was county recorder, and for many years was a stenographer in the law office of the late J. H. Cartwright, and for the law firm of Cartwright, Wason and Ives, up until four months ago when ill health forced her to remain at home, A member of the Presbyterian church, she served as secretary of the Philathea class. Surviving are Mrs. Pauline Smith of Hinsdale, Ill., a niece; Joseph Crawford of Detroit, Michigan, nephew; and Bernard Hefleng, of Delphi, a first cousin. Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at 2 o’clock in the Blythe funeral home with Rev. Miles A. Freeman officiating. Burial was made in the Masonic cemetery.
