Nina Almond - Class Of 1899

Could not find an obit for her but here is an interesting article about her. Perhaps there are few people in Delphi who remember Nina Almond. She was the daughter of W. S. Almond, who was superintendent of the Delphi schools from 1893 to 1901. She was a member of the Delphi graduating class of 1899. Miss Almond is another member of that army of former Carroll county people who have achieved national prominence. She is head librarian of the Hoover Library on the campus of Stanford university. Here are some of the little items entrusted to her care: the complete secret minutes of the German Supreme War Council of the last war, 15 car loads of other valuable material from Germany, the tsarist archives of old Russia, 25 carloads of material from Soviet Russia, the most complete collection of World War propaganda in existence, 300 sealed collections that may not be opened for many years, the archives of the Red Cross during the last war, Hoover’s presidential papers, a vast collection of coins, medals and photographs. Miss Almond directs a staff of eight librarians and eight assistants and secretaries. In her spare time she wrote a book called “The Treaty of St. Germain"
