Jane Breeze - Class Of 1901

Death of Mrs. Gillespie Malcom. The community was severely shocked Monday morning when the sad announcement was made that Mrs. Janie Breeze Malcom had been called to her reward at an early hour that morning. Her death and that of an infant daughter having occurred at their home near Sleeth. May Janie Breeze, the youngest daughter of Mrs. Sarah Breeze, was born in Monroe township, Carroll county, on October 6, 1881 and has spent her entire life in this community. She attended the Delphi public school and was graduated from that institution as a member of the class of '01, and later attend school at De Pauw University for one year. For three years Miss Breeze was a teacher in the Pittsburg school. On May 1, 1908 she was united in mar- riage to Gillespie Malcom and her untimely death is a terrible shock to the grief stricken husband and relatives. Mrs. Malcom possessed a beautiful christian disposition, her wide acquaintance throughout the county being gained through her sweet spirited, gentle, ways. Death cannot possibly be sadder than when to a young matron the possibilities of motherhood are just being; revealed, and it was in her home that she was always the most cheerful. The deceased is survived by her husband, her mother, two brothers and one sister; George, Fred and Miss Amy Breeze. The remains were laid to rest in the Pittsburg cemetery Tuesday afternoon, the funeral having occurred from the late residence at two o'clock, Rev. Edward Baech, of this city, officiating.
