Fanny Robinson (Carney) - Class Of 1901

Delphi lost one of her best loved and most highly respected citizens when Mrs. John R. Carney died early Wednesday morning at her home here. Mrs. Carney became ill in April and since that time had spent many weeks in St. Vincent's hospital. She asked to be brought home and had been here for two weeks before her death. Mrs. Carney was born in Madison township in Carroll county and had lived the greater part of her life in this community. She was the first daughter of William Henry Robinson and Emma Trobaugh Robinson and lived during her youth with six sisters and one brother at the family home in Madison twp. where she was born June 13, 1880. She was married to Dr. J. R. Carney in 1904. They had one daughter, Mrs. Meredith Carney Dial. Dr. Carney died nine years ago this month following a brief illness. An active member of the Delphi Presbyterian church, Mrs. Carney was also an outstanding member of many clubs and organizations and was known among her friends for her gracious charm and hospitality. She was a member of the Eastern Star, of the D. A. R., of the G. A. R. and of the country club. Surviving with the daughter Meredith are five sisters, Mrs. Paul Ashba of Delphi and Mrs. Stella Givler, Mrs. Kate Weil, Mrs. Agnes McCouch, and Mrs. Mabel Cole, all of near Delphi. Funeral services will be held on Friday afternoon at 3 o'clock (DST) at the Delphi Presbyterian church with the Rev. Harry Parker in charge. Burial will be in the Masonic cemetery. Grimm and Son are in charge of the arrangements. The body will lie in state at the church one hour before funeral rites.
