Nellie Cartwright (Shigley) - Class Of 1903

Harry Shigley, 72, and his wife, Nellie, 71, were killed Instantly when their car went out of control and crashed into a tree, The accident occurred near Gettysburg Ohio, on Wednesday of last week. Reportedly the Shigleys had been enroute to visit their son, John, in Springfield, Ohio. Mr. Shigley, a nephew of Ed and Harve Lynch was reared in Delphi and Was well known in this community as a barber and auctioneer. He was sheriff of White county several years ago. Mrs. Shigley, the former Nellie Cartwright, was a Carroll county native. Residing in Monticello for several years, both were members of the Monticello Methodist church. Mr. Shigley was a member of the Elks Lodge at Logansport. They had observed their 50th wedding anniversary last December. Survivors include the son, John; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Judy, of Monticello; Charles Wood, Robert Wood and John E. Walker, all of Delphi are nephews; and Harvey Bowen, Delphi barber, is a cousin. Services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Miller Funeral Home in Monticello with Rev. Joseph Hornick officiating. Burial was made In the Riverview cemetery.
