Bessie Bowen (Robinson) - Class Of 1881

Mrs. Anna E. Robinson, 80, one of Delphi’s most prominent residents and widow of Dr. Frank H. Robinson, former mayor of Delphi, died at her home in Delphi at 8:15 p.m. Monday following an illness of several years. Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of Enoch and Mary (Sterrett) Bowen and was born in this county on June 14, 1861. She attended the Delphi schools and Glendale College in Ohio. She was married to Dr. Robinson on October 8, 1885. Dr. and Mrs. Robinson were charter memebers of the Delphi Oracle club and were long prominent in other social and educational activities of the city of Delphi Dr. Robinson was one of the first trustees of the Delphi library board and served as president of the board for 19 years. Dr. Robinson died in 1933. Mrs. Robinson was the daughter of one of the first settlers’ of this community, her father, Enoch Bowen, having come to this community by way of the Erie Canal from Pennsylvania. She was a lifelong member of the Delphi Presbyterian church. Surviving are a daughter. Miss Isabel, at home and a son, Bowen, of Lafayette. A sister, Mrs. Henry McClure of Cincinnati, also survives. Funeral rites were conducted Wednesday afternoon from the Blythe and Sons funeral home with the Rev. Harry Parker officiating. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.
