Harry Milroy - Class Of 1886

Harry Milroy, 68, well known Hoosier artist and sculptor, hanged himself on the farm home he and his grandfather had homestead almost a hundred years ago. The artist had been in poor health. Milroy, who combined art work with farming, studied under St. Gardens in New York, and had exhibited frequently in Indianapolis and other cities. He spent much of his time at art colonies. He arose as usual, about 5:00 and when he fail to return to the house for breakfast, a search was launched and his body was found hanging from a tree in the woods near the house. He leaves a widow and six stepchildren. About twelve years ago Mr. Milroy was married to Mrs. Mollie Cohee who with her children, he loved as his own, has made his life a happy one during these last years. On Sunday afternoon at 2:20 o'clock a large crowd of relatives and friends gathered at the Milroy home to pay their last respects to Mr. Milroy. Mrs. A.C. Clauser, cousin of Mr. Milroy, read the obituary, Rev. Harry Parker of the Delphi Presbyterian Church, officiated. Burial was in the Masonic cemetery.
