Wilma Brooks (Houser) - Class Of 1965

Wilma B. Brooks Houser, 57, of 10966 W US Hwy 421, Delphi, died at 5:53 a.m. on May 29, 2005, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center.  She had resided there since May 25, and had battled ovarian cancer for the past two years.
  Born Aug. 27, 1947, in Tazwell, Tenn., she was the daughter of William H. and Blanch Quesenbery Brooks.  She was a 1965 graduate of Delphi Community High School and received her beautician certificate from Lafayette Beauty Academy.
  Her marriage was to John R. Houser in Chalmers on Feb. 26, 1966, and he survives.
  Mrs. Houser was a beautician for over 30 years, working at various salons in the Delphi area.  She worked at Shear Country Salon for several years, retiring due to ill health.
  She was a member of Pine Grove Missionary Baptist Church in Delphi.
  Mrs. Houser was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister and aunt.  She was an avid animal lover, enjoyed charcoal and pencil art sketching, and flower and vegetable gardening.
  Surviving are a son, John D. Houser (wife: Carolee) of Delphi; her parents, of Delphi; a brother, David Brooks (wife: Fran) of Rossville; two grandsons, David Houser and Jacob Houser; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and great-nephews.
  Friends may call today (Wednesday) from 4 to 8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home.  Services will be there Thursday at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kermit Goins officiating.  Burial will be at IOOF Memorial Gardens in Pittsburg.
  Memorials may be made to Carroll County Cancer Association.  Envelopes are available at the funeral home.
