Wilber Bitler - Class Of 1931

Wilber T. Bitler, 100, Indianapolis, passed away January 1, 2012. He was born December 25, 1911 in Delphi, IN, the son of Clifford and Pearl (Robertson) Bitler. Wilber retired from Alcoa Aluminum Company of America, where he was a liaison engineer in the electrical department. Soon after retirement from Alcoa, Wilber moved to Indianapolis. He is a former member of Delphi Presbyterian Church in Delphi, IN, and Faith Presbyterian Church in Indianapolis. Wilber was a very loving, kind, and dear husband and father. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois Flora (Wray) Bitler. He spent his last year at Westminster Village North. Wilber is survived by his daughters, Betty Jean Bitler and Beverly Bitler McCallum (Dr. Donald C. McCallum); his granddaughter, Catherine McCallum Moores (Merrill); his great-grandchildren, William Thomas Moores, Madeline Rose Moores, Marilyn Elizabeth Moores, and Kaitlyn Marie McCallum Ernst; and his cousin, Bob Bitler. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7 at 11 AM at Flanner and Buchanan- Broad Ripple, 1305 E. Broad Ripple Avenue, with Rev. Dan Sutherin officiating, with calling from 10 AM until service time. A graveside committal service will be held on Saturday at 2 PM at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Flora, IN. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Humane Society of Indianapolis, 7929 Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN 46268.
