Funeral rites were conducted Monday morning in Flint, Michigan, for Howard Howell, known to his local friends as “Hez” Howell, age 47. Mr. Howell died Friday morning in a Flint hospital of a heart attack suffered earlier at home. Howell was the son of Ernest and Cora Howell and graduated from the Delphi high school in 1931. He was a member of the 1928-29 basketball team from this school that was in the “sweet 16” of the state finals. After graduating from high school he attended DePauw University and since has been associated with the A. C. Sparkplug Company in Flint. Surviving with the widow are two children, Patsy and Ernie, both at home; a brother, Noland Howell of Delphi; his mother, Mrs. Cora Howell of Monticello.
