John Sanderson - Class Of 1931

John W. Sanderson, 54, of 310 W. Front Street, Delphi, Delphi City Councilman and designing engineer at Globe Valve Corp. in Delphi, died Sunday at 1 p.m. in St. Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette, where he had been admitted Friday afternoon. Born March 21, 1913, in Delphi, he was the son of Worden and Edyth Clawson Sanderson. His marriage Sept. 29, 1935, was to Margaret Rico at DeMotte. He was Boy Scout Commissioner with the Three Rivers Council and had received the Silver Beaver Award. He had 16 years of service in Scouting. Mr. Sanderson was a member of the Delphi Methodist Church Rose Chapter No. 36 Order of Eastern Star, Scottish Rites of Indianapolis and Past Master's Association of Masonic Lodges of Carroll County. He was a past master of Mt. Olive Lodge No. 48 R. & A.M., past high priest Chapter No. 21 R.A.M, past commander Delphi Commandery No. 40 K.T. and captain general of the Commandery for the past 11 years, president of Masonic Temple Building Association, Delphi, and past president of the Delphi Rotary Club. Surviving with the widow are his mother, Mrs. Edyth Dickison of Kokomo; a son, John Deane Sanderson of Lafayette; two daughters, Mrs. Floyd (Marjorie) Hutchison of Muncie and Mrs. Tom (Virginia) Smith of Attica; two brothers, James of Oklahoma and Joe of Rochester; a sister Mrs. Raymond (Ruth) High of Kokomo and three grandsons.
