Hale Ellis - Class Of 1931

 

  Hale (Smokie) Ellis, 59, of 804 E. Monroe St., Delphi, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Hospital where he had been a patient since Oct. 30.  He had been in failing health the last year.

  Born Feb. 23, 1913 in Wabash, he was the son of Roy and Lena Pitts Ellis.  He was never married.

  He was a bartender by trade and had worked at Easter's Tavern in Delphi.

  He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Ethel Baker of Wabash, and several nieces and nephews.  Two brothers preceded him in death.

  Service were Wednesday afternoon at Lloyd Funeral Home, Delphi, with the Rev. David L. Abel officiating.  Burial was in Masonic Cemetery, Delphi.
