Donola Lewis (Hysong) - Class Of 1931

Donola Dell (Lewis) Hysong, 100, of the Riverside community near Attica, passed away at the Milner Community Healthcare Center, Rossville, IN, on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2012, at 9:45 a.m.

Donola was born in Rensselaer, IN, on Sept. 6, 1911. She was the daughter of the late Gilbert and Eva (Miller) Lewis. She had attended school in Williamsport and has lived most of her life in the Fountain County area in the Riverside community.

Donola formerly worked at Fountain County CO-OP and later as a sales clerk for the P.N. Hirsch Company in Attica.

She had been a member of the Riverview United Methodist Church in Independence.

She was a member of the Merry-Go-Round Club, Riverside Birthday Club, Thursday Afternoon Club and a former member of the Attica Chapter of the War Mothers.

On March 27, 1933, Donola married Aaron H. "Jack" Hysong in Independence, IN. He preceded her in death on March 15, 1980.

Surviving are a daughter, Calene ( Dale) Christophel, Columbus, IN; four sons, Jack (Nancy) Hysong, Tucson, AZ; Bill (Dianne) Hysong, Attica; Gary Hysong, Attica and John (Sharon) Hysong, Lafayette; two sisters, Eileen Carson, Cool Rapid, MN and Joyce Loft, Lafayette; two brothers, Adren Lewis, Danville, IL and Devonne Lewis, Merrillville, IN; 10 grandchildren, 2 step grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren, 5 step great-grandchildren and 1 step great great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Loraine Wagner, Agnes Hardesty and Betty Fetrow along with two brothers, Van and Gene Lewis.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Wednesday, Jan. 18, from 11 a.m. until service time at 1 p.m. with Pastor Dan Jordan officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica.
