Ed Nichols - Class Of 1976

 Edward L. Nichols, 56, of 6073 N. Hodges Drive, Monticello, died unexpectedly at 6:37 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2011, in the emergency room at White County Memorial Hospital. He had become ill earlier in the morning at his residence.

He was born Sept. 20, 1954, to Lois M. Davis Nichols of Brooksville, Fla., and the late Leroy M. Nichols. He was a 1976 graduate of Delphi High School.

Mr. Nichols was self employed, doing construction, and handyman jobs, as well as yard work, locally, for many years. He enjoyed NASCAR, the Indianapolis Colts, video games, was an avid reader, and loved his music. He enjoyed being outdoors and spending time with his family.

He married Carla F. Cobbs, in Delphi, on Jan. 5, 1976, and she survives.

Also surviving are two daughters, Sonnet Lucas (husband: Randy) of Monticello and Destiny Castro (husband: Rick) of Round Rock, Texas; a sister, Christine Lee of Brooksville; and a half brother, Mike Spitler of Junction, Utah.

Also survivingare his in-laws, Harold & Genean Cobbs of Monticello; a granddaughter, Tori Lucas; and his dogs, Ebony & Kruzer.
