DELPHI---Delbert "John" Wray, 68, of 1031 N. Washington St., died at 7:51 a.m. Monday, June 19, in St. Elizabeth Hospital Medical Center, Lafayette.
Mr. Wray was born Sept. 17, 1926, in Carroll County. He was a lifelong Carroll County resident. He married Mary F. Calhoon, Feb. 5, 1944, in Pittsburg, and she survives.
He attended Delphi schools, and was a World War II and Korean War veteran.
He had worked at the Glove Valve Corp. in Delphi for 28 years, retiring in 1979.
Mr. Wray was a member of the Delphi American Legion Post and the Delphi VFW post. He enjoyed fishing and camping.
Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Jerry (Roxanne) Stover(DCHS 1962) of Wabash, Mrs. Richard (Sue) Grimes (DCHS 1963) of Delphi, Mrs. Clarence (Robin) Gustafson (DCHS 1965) of Lafayette, and Mrs. Jim (Jacque) Maxson Jr. (DCHS 1974) of Monticello; a son, Jack Wray of Delphi, and a half-brother, Robert Merrill.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today, Horn Funeral Home, Delphi. Service there 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Donald Ashley officiating. Interment IOOF Memorial Gardens with American Legion graveside rites. Surviving are 8 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by 2 grandchildren, 3 brothers, a sister. Memorials to charity of donor's choice.
