Royce E. Kurtz

Former Delphi School Corporation superintendent, Royce E. Kurtz, 69, died Thursday, October 17, 1985.  He was in a tractor accident at his home in Liberty Center.
  A native of McPherson, Kansas, he was a graduate of Manchester College and received his master's degree from Claremont Graduate School in California.  He was superintendent in the Delphi School from 1954 until 1956.  He came back to the Lafayette area in 1965 when he was named superintendent of Tippecanoe School Corporation.  In 1969 he accepted an appointment at Purdue University.  He remained in that position until retiring in 1981.
  Surviving are his widow, the former Betty Garrett; two sons, Garrett W. Kurtz, Mesa, Colo., and David R. Kurtz of Lafayette, one daughter, Mrs. James (Deanne) Recker of Carmel; and two brothers.
  Services were held Saturday, October 19, at Bluffton.  Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Bluffton, IN.
