Doris I. Thiess Yates, 87, of Flora, died Fri-Jan 25, 2013 at 3:33pm at IU Health Arnett Hospital-Lafayette. She had been a patient there since Monday. She was born July 15, 1925 in Cass County, IN, to the late Harry & Inez Bird Thiess. Her marriage was to Orville Yates in Delphi, on Dec 5, 1947, and he preceded her in death on Oct 24, 2001. She attended Delphi High School, and the First Brethren Church of Flora. She was a homemaker, and had worked at the former Gerber -Globe Valve Corp-Delphi, the former Brethren Home-Flora, and helped clean at the Flora Senior Apartments. She enjoyed camping and traveling, and dearly loved her family, and the gatherings they had together.

Surviving are daughters: Dianna & Bob McCarty, Burrows, Gail & Dan Seamster, Flora, Sandy Gee, Lafayette, Linda & Terry Handy, Flora; son: Kirk S. Yates, Brookston; 9 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Preceded in death by her sister Marjorie

Friends may call Tuesday 5-8pm at Abbott Funeral Home-Delphi. Service there Wednesday 11:00am, Rev. Jeff Landon officiating.
