Maurice Herron - Class Of 1948

Maurice "Morrie" Herron passed away at 6:30 a.m. on Wed., March 20, 2013 at his residence.

Morrie was born on July 27, 1929 in Delphi to the late Robert B. and Myrtle (Welker) Herron. He attended Delphi schools.

Mr. Herron served in the Army from June 14, 1948 to July 23, 1948.

His 1st marriage was to Vonnie Walters and she preceded him in 1982. His 2nd marriage was to Joan Swift Crowell and she preceded him in 1998.

He retired after 20 years of service as a supervisor and trouble shooter for W.H. Long in 2004. He previously had worked at National Homes for over 39 years.

He was a member of the Delphi United Methodist Church.

He enjoyed fishing and looking up his genealogy.

He is survived by sisters: Bonnie Roberts (husb: Robert), Sharon Wolf (husb: Frank) and Jeanne Fife all of Delphi; 5 stepdaughters, nephew, Joey Dunfee and several nieces and nephews. Along with his parents and wives, he was preceded by his son, Robert L. Herron in 2000 and sisters: Pat Hoagland, Norma Kimble, Mary Zwiers, and brothers: Paul and Bill.

Viewing will be on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi with services there on Saturday, March 23rd at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Jim Chase officiating. Burial will be in Morning Heights Cemetery, Delphi with Military Graveside Rites by the Delphi and Camden American Legions and Delphi VFW. Online condolences may be made at www.davidsonfh.com.
