Barbara A. Buchanan, 90, of Lafayette, passed away on Nov. 26, 2013 at St. Mary's Healthcare in Lafayette.

Barbara was born on June 12, 1923 in Frankfort. She was raised by her adopted parents, George and Mabel (Wikel) Wallace. She was a 1940 graduate of Buchanan High School.

Barbara married Clyde C. Buchanan on May 11, 1946 in Battle Ground and he preceded her on Feb. 13, 1981.

She retired from Delphi High School after 30 years.

Mrs. Buchanan was a member of the Church of the Brethren, the Lafayette Red Hat Society, the ARC, holding various ARC offices.

She enjoyed gardening, playing bingo, bird watching and helping others.

Barbara is survived by her 3 children: Janice Alene Byers (Robert) of Thornton, CO, Claudia Mae Sargent of Battle Ground, and Clyde "Bud" Buchanan of Lafayette; 4 grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, 3 brothers, a sister; son-in-law, Michael Sargent; and 3 step grandchildren.

A graveside service will be held at the Masonic Cemetery on Dec. 3, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiating.
