Marcella Smith (Combs) - Class Of 1954

Marcella J. "Tillie" Combs, 76, passed away Thursday, March 6, 2014 at 6:15 pm at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community in Mulberry.

She was born March 22, 1937 in Flora, Indiana to the late John Jacob and Margaret Irene (Eskridge) Smith. She attended Delphi Schools.

She married Clayton Combs on July 30, 1951 at Walnut Ridge, Arkansas and he survives.

She had worked at Bryan's Manufacturing in Monticello for 17 years and also was a clerk in Florida for the Circle K convenience stores.

She was a very proud member of the Cherokee Native American tribe and was given the Cherokee name of Morning Dove.

She enjoyed fishing with her husband and family and also liked working puzzles and board games but especially enjoyed the time spent with her family.

Along with her husband, Clayton of Delphi, she is survived by her children: Clayton M. Combs (Linda) of Flora, Patricia Harner of Georgia, Robert I. Combs (Bonnie) of Florida and Teresa Houser (Jeff) of Delphi. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded by her parents; daughter, Leigh Kiger; grandson, Danny Lehr; and 2 brothers, Frank and Tom Smith; and a sister Anna Thatcher.

Visitation will be Monday, March 10, 2014 from 5:00-8:00 PM at Davidson Funeral Home in Delphi. Services will be held at Davidson Funeral Home on Tuesday, March 11, 2014 at 10:00 AM with Pastor John Wagner officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Run Cemetery in Northern Carroll County.
