Sister M. Madonna (Marie Walsh), 76, who served as principal of St. Joseph Academy at Tipton from 1940 to 1962, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 1977 in St. Joseph Motherhouse infirmary. Born in Defiance, Ohio, on March 31, 1901, she was the daughter of Ambrose and Elizabeth (Heckman) Walsh. Sister M. Madonna taught in Delphi, Garrett, Elwood and Marion before serving as principal at St. Joseph Academy for 22 years. She is survived by three sisters, Helen Walsh of Kokomo, Mrs. Agnes Potvin of Kokomo and Sister M. Dorothy Walsh of Hong Kong. Services were held Friday in St. Joseph Motherhouse with burial in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Tipton.
