Charles Johnson - Class Of 1946

Charles L. Johnson, 87 of Delphi passed away on Sept. 20, 2014 at Milner Community Healthcare at Rossville.

Charles was born on June 10, 1927 in Delphi to the late Benjamin L. and Della (Schrader) Johnson. He was a 1946 graduate of Delphi High School. Charles was a WWII veteran who served in the US Army.
He married Florence I. Miller in Monticello in 1950 and she survives.
Mr. Johnson had retired from Globe Valve and worked in the Buffing and Polishing Dept.
Charles enjoyed fishing, mussel shelling and woodworking. He was a very talented working with his hands and was a skilled carpenter. He had a terrific sense of humor and enjoyed practical jokes. He loved watching WWII movies and westerns and especially loved time spent with his grandchildren.
Along with his wife he is survived by a son Steven Johnson (wife: Denice) of Delphi; daughter Shirley Burkhalter (husb: Bob) of Kokomo; sister Roberta Coghill (husb: Fred) of Delphi; 4 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
He was preceded by sisters: Catherine Schlaug and Dorothy Phillips and brother John Johnson.     
Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until the 11:30 funeral service on Tuesday, Sept. 23, 2014 at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi with Pastor Bob Duke officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Memorial Gardens at Pittsburg with Military Graveside Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
