Adrian Marris - Class Of 1969

The funeral of Sgt. Adrian L. Marris, 27, of Tucson, Ariz., will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the Delphi United Methodist Church. The Rev. O.D. Williams will officiate. Burial with full military rites will be in the Rockfield IOOF Cemetery. He was killed in a one-car crash Sunday, April 22, 1979, about 11 miles north of Sonoita in Pima County. Driving a 1976 pickup truck on Arizona 83, Marris failed to negotiate a curve and was thrown from the vehicle. Born June 4, 1951, at Fort Benning, Ga., he was the 9on of Ewin F. and Amy E. Mullendore Marris. He was married Oct. 9, 1971, in Delphi to Nancy J. Rhine, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Rhine of Delphi, who survives. A 1969 graduate of East Tipp High School, he joined the Army in 1969 and served in Vietnam from February 1970 until April 1971. In 1973 he joined the Air Force and currently had been stationed at Davis- Monthan AFB at Tucson. Other survivors are his mother, Amy E. Schultz of Lafayette; a son, Adrian Lee II at home; a brother, Ewin of Pittsboro; and five sisters, Phyllis Griffith of Florida, Evelyn Bowen of Arizona, Martha Schmauch, Jackie Bloyd and Melissa Wills, all of Lafayette. Friends may call at Thompson Funeral Home in Delphi from 4 until 9 Thursday.
