Joseph McKinley - Class Of 1938

Dr. Joseph McKinley, 62, a Lafayette urologist and surgeon, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 1982, in Indiana University Medical Center, Indianapolis. Born in Hardensberg, he is the son of Clarence and Mary McKinley. His mother survives. He married Catherine Gallagher in 1955 in Lafayette, who survives. Dr. McKinley is a Delphi High School graduate and was graduated from Indiana University with an A.B. degree in 1942 and received his M.D. there in 1944. He served in the Army Medical Corps in the Philippines and was a resident in urology at Indiana University from 1948 to 1950 and Nashville General Hospital in Tennessee in 1950-51. He first joined Dr. F. S. Crockett in the practice of urology and was in private practice until January, 1970, when he became affiliated with Arnett Clinic. He was on the staff of St. Elizabeth and Home hospitals. His memberships included Phi Chi medical fraternity, Lafayette Country Club and Tippecanoe County Medical Society. Surviving with the wife are the mother of Delphi; one daughter, Betsy McKinley of Indianapolis; two sons, Michael McKinley of St. Michael’s Seminary and Stephen McKinley of Houston, Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Loyal (Betty) Cripe of Rt. 4, Delphi, Mrs. Kenneth (Sarah) Lewis of Rockford, Ill., and Mrs. Joseph (Ruth Ann) Braune of Centerville, O.; one brother, James B. McKinley of Clinton. Memorial services were Monday at St. Ann’s Catholic Church with Bishop Raymond Gallagher, Monsignor Fred Potthoff, Monsignor John Duncan and the Rev. Dr. Joseph G. Wick officiating. Memorials may be made to the Building Fund, First North, St., Elizabeth Hospital, Lafayette.
