George Hathaway - Class Of 1941

George Hathaway, 92, formerly of Delphi, IN passed away at Community Hospital at Anderson, IN on April 8, 2015.

George was born to the late Earl William and Hazel Marie (McClelland) Hathaway in White County, IN. He attended schools in Delphi.

He served in the US Navy during WWII, participating in 11 invasions.

George married Beverly Hawn and they later divorced. His 2nd marriage was to Georgia R. James and she preceded him on April 9, 2010.

Mr. Hathaway retired as Bridge Superintendent at Michaels Construction in Frankfort, IN.

He was a former member of the Radnor United Methodist Church. He was an avid John Wayne fan; he enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and playing cards. He loved his large family and cherished times spent with them.

He is survived by his children: Sharon Sue Hathaway of Delphi, Sara Swartz (Larry) of Lafayette, Stephen Michael Hathaway (Kathie) of Muncie, Gary L. Hathaway (Elaine) of Corpus Christi, TX, Kathie Jo Yerkes of Camden, Russell W. Hathaway (Mary) of Kentland, Tonya Elliott (Nathan) of Anderson, Penny Krieg of North Carolina, Tim and Greg Grigsby of Kentucky; siblings: Nellie Peters & Marion Hathaway of Camden, Lucille Geisler and Edna Capper of Monticello, Orville Hathaway of Delphi, and Wayne Hathaway of Kokomo; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren.

Along with his wives, George was preceded by his daughter: Sandra Kay Taylor; sisters: Thelma Peters, Ruby Kempf, Faye Eyestone and Jesse Allen; brothers: Bob, Don, Richard, Tom and Russell W. Hathaway.

Visitation will be at Davidson Funeral Home on Monday, April 13, 2015 from Noon until the 2:00 p.m. service. Pastor Bill McLean will officiate. Military Rites by the Carroll County Honor Guard.
