Juanita Scott

Juanita M. Scott, 91, of Delphi, died at 3:55 a.m. Friday, Oct. 30, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Healthcare, Delphi. Born May 13, 1918, in Boone County, near Kirklin, she was the daughter of the late Orval Hopp and Ruby Stephenson Hopp. She graduated from Kirklin High School in 1935 and moved to Carroll County in 1954 from Tipton County. She married Robert Scott in Boone County on Feb. 3, 1938. He died Feb. 10, 2000. Mrs. Scott retired as custodian of Delphi Community High School in 1986 after 15 years. She also helped her husband on the family farm from 1938 to 1971. She was a member of the Delphi Christian Church, Christian Women's Fellowship and the Golden Rule Class at the church. Surviving are daughters, Aleta M. Tyner (husband: Ron) of Northbrook, Ill., Marilyn K. Pabst (husband: Ed) of Terre Haute, Mary Ellen Grubbs (husband: John) of Covington and Patricia L. Curts (husband: Rick) of Delphi; sons, Ronald L. Scott of Kentland, Don R. Scott (wife: Susan) of Loudon, Tenn., James R. Scott, DVM, (wife: Marilyn) of Carmel, Michael A. Scott (wife: Nancy) of Remington, David J. Scott (wife: Marilyn) of Greensburg and Jeffrey N. Scott (wife: Theresa) of Brownsburg. Also surviving are 34 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren. Preceded by 2 brothers, a great-grandson and her daughter-in-law, Marcia Scott in August 2006. Visitation 3-7 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 1, 2009, at Davidson Funeral Home, Delphi, and 1 hour prior the service at 11 a.m. Monday, Nov. 2, 2009, at Delphi Christian Church, Pastor Andy Paris officiating. Interment Scott Cemetery, Scircleville.

She was a wonderful lady who raised a great family. She was always so proud of her children.  For students who were troubled, she always had  helpful words.
